Coaching Options
Beginner
The perfect course for someone with little to no experience with Steadicam. If you don’t own your own Steadicam package we can provide one. This course can be one or more days, but a two day version is recommended. In a one day scenario, we can focus on exploring the equipment, proper setup, balancing and tuning of the sled, arm and vest. We’ll have time to work on basic warm up and movement exercises and simple shots. If you feel you’re already familiar and proficient with your equipment, then we can spend the single day course working on a variety of simple to moderate shots aiming to improve your movement, footwork and compositions. A two day workshop will cover all the above activities as well as discussion on all these areas.
Intermediate
This course is suited for operators with some work experience under their belt who feel confident in their ability to set up and tune their equipment. Participants should have their own complete, functional Steadicam system and a practice camera. We will craft a series of moderate to complex Steadicam shots to challenge and enhance your skills. In this one or multi-day workshop, we’ll focus on critiquing your form, execution, footwork, and compositions. As the workshop progresses, we'll gradually increase the challenge and complexity of the shots, aiming to push past your limits and elevate your skills in all areas of Steadicam operation. We’ll discuss all aspects of Steadicam and camera operating, addressing the areas most relevant to you.
Advanced
The advanced course is suited for operators with at least a few years of practical experience in the industry. You should own your own complete, operational Steadicam system and practice camera. While this course is similar to the intermediate level, it takes a more tailored approach to the specific areas you wish to enhance. The course will challenge you with shots of greater complexity, delving into the finer points of your operating technique and how to elevate it to the next level. Our focus will be laser-sharp on composition and framing, helping you master the art of crafting visually stunning shots. We'll also engage in advanced discussions on working in high-level film sets, navigating the industry politics and protocols, and exploring all other pertinent areas relevant to your growth as a seasoned operator.
